      Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at abqnanobrows@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Botulinum toxin (Type A), also known as Botox Cosmetic, is a natural, purified protein that’s commonly used to smooth out fine lines and reduce the appearance of deep wrinkles.

Botox is a neurotoxin, meaning it works by blocking the nerve signals that cause your facial muscles to contract, leaving your skin looking naturally smooth.

Using small doses and tiny needles, Botox is injected at specific points in your facial anatomy to relax facial muscles and help decrease the appearance of wrinkles.

Botox is most effective for treating dynamic wrinkles, or the kind of lines that are caused by repeated facial muscle patterns and everyday facial expressions. These wrinkles include:

      • Forehead lines (10-20 units)
      • Frown lines (10-20 units  *also require frown lines)
      • Crow’s feet (around eyes 12-36 units)
      • Nasolabial folds (4-15 units)
      • Upper lip (lip flip 6-10 units)
      • Gummy smile (4-10 units)
      • Masseter (TMJ 60 units)
      • brow lift (8-16 units *also require frown lines)

Although Botox can have a visible effect on the finer lines and wrinkles caused by sun damage, genetics, and smoking, these so-called static wrinkles tend to be more responsive to laser skin resurfacing treatments.

Botox Cosmetic is one of the most effective cosmetic tools for temporary wrinkle reduction.

The treatment itself can usually be performed on the same day as your initial consultation and evaluation. After discussing your goals, Dr. Le will prepare the injection and let you know what you can expect during the quick procedure. Botox injections are virtually painless.

The entire procedure takes about 10 minutes, and most patients get the results they’re looking for by having several small injections throughout the treatment area.

Although you may experience minor swelling and redness afterward, any side effects are mild and short-lived.

Depending on the product, it can take 8-9 days to take full effect. We schedule follow-up appointments 2 weeks after treatment to make sure patients are happy with their results.

Botox results aren’t permanent, but they do last an average of six to ei months. If you want to maintain your new, younger-looking skin for longer, all you have to do is come in for a Botox boost.

Where there is a needle, there is a risk of bruising. Our customized injection techniques are designed to minimize bruising as much as possible, but some patients may still experience it. Bruises typically take 5-7 days to fade. We recommend that you schedule BOTOX treatments 3- 4 weeks before any significant events like a wedding.

Although rare, vascular occlusions can be serious and often occur with inexperienced injectors. A vascular occlusion occurs when an injector accidentally injects BOTOX into the bloodstream.

Generally speaking this is a no downtime procedure. Small blebs or redness may be seen temporarily at the injection site and generally resolve within 30 min. It is important that you do not lie down for 4 hours after your treatment and we recommend that you avoid physical activity until the next day.

      • Nursing or pregnant
      • Allergy to human albumin, Botulinum Toxin
      • Allergy to any of the ingredients in Botox (e.g. the protein found in eggs is also the same protein found in Botox),
      • Has a severe infection or illness, including neuromuscular conditions, neurological or diabetes
      • Is taking medications, such as antibiotics that are aminoglycosides, which can interfere with the effects of Botox
      • Has ptosis (or drooping eyelids) or any other existing weakness in any of the target muscles
      • Myasthenia Gravis

Dermal fillers help to diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face.

As  we age, our faces naturally lose subcutaneous fat. The facial muscles  are then working closer to the skin surface, so smile lines and crow's  feet become more apparent.

The facial skin also stretches a bit,  adding to this loss of facial volume. Other factors that affect the  facial skin include sun exposure, heredity and lifestyle.

      • Lip filler (.5ml-1ml)
      • Facial filler: Cheek, Chin, Jawline (1ml-3ml)

On average dermal fillers last around 6-18 months however, each individual is different and some people’s bodies break down filler at a quicker or slower rate than others.

Dermal Fillers are applied through a series of small injections. Much  like a gentle pinprick, most people find them perfectly comfortable. Some areas of the face are more sensitive than others (like the lips  which contain many nerve endings).

Numbing cream is applied to certain areas prior to treatment to help minimize discomfort.  The treatment itself may cause minimal to no discomfort.

Some soreness may be experienced at the injection site after treatment. The local anesthetic in the dermal filler itself will help manage the pain after the treatment.

After your treatment you can go back to work and continue most of your usual daily activities.

For the first 48 hours it is important to refrain from exercise, alcohol, and excessive heat. Avoid direct pressure to treated areas. Ice may be applied intermittently to help with any discomfort, and swelling. Avoid makeup for 12 hours.

To ensure optimal outcomes, it is important that you follow the correct aftercare protocols set out to you by specialist.

After fillers, you may experience some slight swelling, bruising, and tenderness in the treatment area. After a few days, you should be able to see the optimum results and any bruising and swelling should have diminished.

If you want to have fillers removed or reduced because of side effects, you may need additional procedures to reduce the filler or surgery to  remove it. These procedures carry their own risks. Be aware that it may  be difficult or impossible to remove some filler materials.

Redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, lumps/bumps, bruising, discoloration, itching.

The most serious risk associated with dermal fillers is accidental  injection into a blood vessel. Filler that enters a blood vessel can  cause skin necrosis (death of tissue), stroke, or blindness. While the  chances of this happening are low, if it does happen, the resulting  complications can be serious and may be permanent.
